I have been having some issues w/ the CRD5110-300-5 communications both in Windows XP & Windows 7. 1) Windows XP seems to be more reliable than Windows 7 when communicating w/ the CRD5110 device. 2) For some reason the USB to RS-232 to RS-485 to CRD5110 communications links sometimes seems to get jammed up requiring a machine boot, since there is no other way to bring the link back into a working state. Opening & closing the serial port from inside Windows does not revive the link, however, sometimes temporarily removing the cable going to the USB device, & then re-inserting it (after a few seconds) seems to help, but not all of the time. 3) When the USB-RS-232 link is jammed up the only way to revive it is to reboot the PC. 4) I have tried using different USB to RS-232 Adapters from different vendors, but that doesn’t seem to solve the problem. 5) My transducer is located amongst SSRs (solid state relays) & 3 transformers (16Vac, 24Vdc-for the transducer, & 240Vac) & there might be some electrical noise or magnetic fields affecting the CRD5110 communications. 6) At this point I am not certain what the problem might be, whether it is the USB-RS-232 link & drivers, or whether it is due to nearby electrical noise somewhere in the circuit, or perhaps I am missing some critical components (120 ohm line terminators to avoid reflections) in between the RS-485 & the transducer. Here a description of the problem that I am having. 1) Sometimes it works just fine, & there are no apparent problems. 2) When it starts to hick-up, I get junk characters in the data stream received. For example here are some good data streams, “>+0.3911+0.0485+0.0173+0.0000+0.9105060.0” “>+0.3922+0.0487+0.0174+0.0000+0.9122059.9” “>+0.3927+0.0469+0.0167+0.0000+0.9081059.9” And here are the bad data streams, “>*0.3944+00484+0.0163+0.0000+0.9091059.9” “>+0.3036*0.0476+0.017 +0.0000+0.9082059.9” “>+0."935+0,0465+0.0168+0.0000+0.9710 9.9” “>*0.2973*0.0468*0.0169 0.0000+0.8086059.9” Any ideas? Thanks.
